As we read the gospel records, we read eyewitness accounts of the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus.

In a sense, the gospels are just the beginning of Christ's work. The adventure continues in the

Book of Acts. In this study with

Scott Pauli, we consider the continuing work of Christ through the Holy Spirit, who works

through the apostles in the New Testament Church. Now, let's get in on the adventure.

When people come in to a local church, they ought to find a family.

There ought to be such a demonstration of the love of God.

Remember what Jesus told the first disciples,

by this, shall all men know you're my disciples when you have loved one for another.

There ought to be such a

warmth of God's heart among his children that new believers, new members, new visitors,

new attenders, see that demonstrated in the local assembly. We're returning to the book of Acts today and to this

Bible character. We first met him at the end of Acts chapter four. We'll return to Acts 5 soon,

but I want to do exactly what I told you I was going to do. I'm going to walk you through the

book of Acts and show you the other occasions where we find this man because I think there's so much truth here

that we need to apply to our lives, our families, and our churches.

We know that Barnabas was the son of consolation, and every time we see him, he is helping.

In some way, he's helping.

You know, every church member, every believer is either a hindrance or a help.

So you're either standing in God's way and the way of the church moving forward,

or you're helping it along.

You're coming alongside and saying, what can I do?
