Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper-Nichols. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I share words that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down and take a few deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead. Thanks for being here today. And now on to today's episode. Having to wait does not make you a failure.

0:30.1

You are still going to get where you are meant to be when you are meant to be there.

0:35.7

Now, getting where you are meant to be when you're meant to be there

0:39.2

may sound comforting, but at the same time, it can also be a difficult reality to live with. Because even

0:48.2

though meant to be means that things could come together in a beautiful, unexpected way. It also means that there might be

0:57.7

a prolonged unexpected weight. It also means you might have to see people younger than you reach

1:06.3

certain milestones before you. You might have to watch people who seem undeserving or ungrateful be given the

1:13.8

very things that you've been longing for. You might end up finding out that the relationship you thought

1:20.7

was forever just wasn't meant to be. It takes bravery to accept the truth of meant to be. It takes courage to believe that all

1:33.1

things work together. But the thing is, it's okay if you're wrestling with this. It's okay if you're

1:41.2

still grieving the reality of a missed opportunity or a broken connection that seemed promising to you.

1:48.4

You were not in the wrong for having hoped for better results.

1:52.5

You are not immature or naive for having dreamed of accomplishing certain things by this point in your life.

1:59.5

And you are certainly not a failure for having to wait,

2:03.8

circle back, slow down, or reconsider. Even if you are currently traveling through the biggest

2:11.9

setback of your life, meant to be can still be a beautiful reality to look forward to. Just because certain hopes have

2:21.4

been crushed, that does not mean that other hopes cannot come to life. There may have been certain

2:29.0

plants in the garden that did not grow the way you were wanting them to. But that does not mean other plants will not

2:37.0

bloom. Perhaps you tried to plant a row of gardenia bushes, and to your dismay, they did not bloom

2:43.0

according to the plan. But remember, even then, there is still soil beneath your feet. Your failed

2:50.1

pursuits do not hinder your ability to sew something new.

2:54.5

Perhaps this time you can plant dahlias, daffodils, or marigolds, and perhaps they will be just as beautiful.
