And there's this terrible hum.

Uh, buzzing.

And I've just been brooding by the fire.

There comes a time in life when brooding by the fire is very important.

Brooding is one of those many useful parts of life that you cannot admit to anymore

people jump all over you try to get you committed drop you off at a yoga retreat brooding just means to be deep and

thought somber quiet moodily contemplative, especially in the sense of working over something.

In old movies, the writer or the artist is often shown rooting over the typewriter, the scroll, the canvas.

So if you're not brooding about it, it's probably not that important.

So brood if you like, and watch out for people who don't want any brooding in their presence.

It means they're shallow.

Anyway, brooding is best done alone by the fire.

A week or so back, I was driving my favorite Malhabi back roads on a dark midweek night, nobody else on the road.

but that's the only better place to brood that a campfire or fireplace is behind the wheel alone with the radio

and your thoughts and the wild expanse.
