And y'all, this is an artist I've admired for a long time, a four-time Grammy Award winner

who's known as one of the best songwriters of his generation.

Jason Isbell was born to parents

who were still teenagers in a small town in North Alabama, and as a result, he spent a lot of time

with his grandfather, who was a Pentecostal preacher and a guitar player. By high school, he was immersed in

the music culture of Muscle Shoals, and in his early 20s he was playing to sold-out crowds with

the drive-by truckers. As a solo artist, Isbel has become known as a poet of the rural South

who's not afraid to speak his mind. Now he's got a terrific new album called Weather Vains,

a collection of songs that continue his tradition of storytelling with an edge. We'll talk about all that,

plus his grandmother's cornbread, how to ring a chicken's neck, and his experience as an actor

in Martin Scorsese's upcoming movie, Killers of the Flower Moon. All that and more on a very special

Biscuits and Jam.
