Summary

0:00.0	On Thursday afternoon, May 2, 1946, thousands of people gathered on the Northern San Francisco
0:19.5	waterfront.
0:21.0	They stared in amazement at Alcatraz Island.
0:24.1	The sounds of explosions and the crackle of gunfire reverberated across the water.
0:29.3	The onlookers watched what would become known as the Battle of Alcatraz.
0:34.3	During this time, six prisoners overpowered cellhouse officers and gained access to weapons

0:41.6	In effect, they took control of the cellhouse.
