Dell's illustrious career began in 1963 when the father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe,

asked him to join his band, and the rest is history. Almost 60 years later, Dell is still playing shows, releasing albums, and performing with everyone from Vince Gill to Billy Strings.

Today, we'll talk about the return of Dell Fest, his latest album, Almost Proud, his hope for the future of bluegrass, and much, much more.

Well, Del, where am I reaching you right now? Hendersonville, Tennessee, which is just about 20 minutes

north of Nashville. Well, I want to ask you about growing up. I know you grew up in a musical family.

What did your mother teach you about music?

Well, you know, she actually never taught me anything.
