Geoffrey Archer, yeah, I mean, number one, a trustworthy guy.

There have been a lot of misunderstandings.

And I think nowadays people are just not willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Just so that we're absolutely given the world in which you operate. You are joking.

I am joking. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.

And do you think there are any parallels between Geoffrey Archer and the Tory party of the time and prominent conservatives like the Prime Minister Boris Johnson now?

I can't think of what analogy you're possibly trying to draw that.

Yeah, I mean, of course, both ambitious, they both lied to get ahead known for their romantic entanglements.

I mean, the list goes on where we could draw those parallels.

It does indeed, but how fair is that comparison?

And what was Geoffrey Archer really like? Well, I guess today knows all too well.

Adam Raphael is an author, a journalist, and in 1987, he was subpoena to give evidence for the daily star in Archer's libel trial.

He had vital evidence that Archer lied when he said he did not meet Monica Cofflin. He joins us next.
