0:39.6	big, scary thing for new nurses and nursing students, it can be a big scary thing for experienced
0:44.9	nurses as well. And that is responding appropriately to a code blue. Now, I would say that nurses
0:52.9	who do this task all the time are obviously going to feel
0:56.3	a lot more comfortable than nurses who work in areas where it just doesn't happen that much.
1:01.6	And you might worry that you won't remember what to do. So I just wanted to remind you before we
1:08.7	jump into this episode that if you've taken BLS, you know what to do.
1:15.6	Most likely, your nervousness about this stems from the fact that you simply don't get a chance
1:22.1	to practice these skills often. And you might be worried that in the heat of the moment, in that very stressful
1:28.6	situation, you won't respond appropriately or know how to intervene or you'll freeze up for a
1:34.4	moment. After all, you probably don't practice codes all the time. That's a good thing. We don't want
1:39.7	these bad things to happen to our patients. But you do want to feel confident about it, and I totally
1:45.0	understand that. So what I would ask of you is, can you practice? If you're a student, can you
1:53.6	practice a mock code blue in the skills lab or the simulation lab? As a nurse, can you
1:59.9	advocate for a mock code skill station at your next
2:04.1	staff meeting? Can you run through the steps you would take with the coworker or review them
