1:25.1 | Okay, so when I was 18, I moved up to a southern Oregon |

1:45.4 | were paid, some of them were volunteers, some of them were paid on call. I was in an internship |

2:01.7 | So when you're in the fire department, every department's a little bit different, but you kind of have to go through basic training and learn everything that goes into being a firefighter and stuff like that. |

2:21.6 | progression in your career you get bumped up to certain apparatus that do certain things like you could be on an ambulance to begin with and you move up to an engine company, then a truck company or a rescue company, whatever the case was, but it just so happened that I had passed all the qualifications for a rescue engine and I was on that. |
2:45.0 | And I had never done a ride-along or anything like that before being in the fire department. |
2:56.6 | So I was always kind of a go-getter, |
2:59.7 | you know, athlete, hunter, and you know, |
3:01.6 | nothing really scared me at all or still doesn't to this day, but the very first call I was ever on, we were just hanging around the fire station and all of a sudden the alarms go off and we got called to a head-on collision on a highway in where we operated. |
3:24.0 | And in this highway, it was two lanes going north, |
3:28.0 | northbound and southbound, so there are a total of four lanes, |
3:30.0 | but there was no center divide. |
3:33.3 | So at the time we only had enough people to staff one engine and that was the engine that I was on. |
3:41.0 | So we rolled up onto the scene and it looked like a bomb went off. |
