This past weekend, our Ladies Fellowship, sponsored a wonderful pre-Easter event,

including lunch for over 100 ladies, with six of us taking turns presenting some short

talks, and then some giveaway drawings for some beautiful domestic tools, including a sewing machine,

and then 16 round tables for eight were each set by a different lady in the church who provided the dishes and

decor for her table. It was just really lovely. But anyway, my friend Julie Garfield and I were

tasked with speaking to the empty nesters. So I decided to repurpose my talk for you all today.

My half of the talk had to do with adjustments, challenges,

and temptations that come with being an empty nester. Whenever we face change at any time,

whether emptiness change or other kinds, we need to remember that every change is from God,

and so our duty is the same as ever to trust him and not to be afraid of change.

When your children move out and move on to establish their own families, this is a design feature and not a flaw, and it's good.

Though our lives are full of change, God never changes. He remains the same,

our rock and our salvation. Especially as we age, there will be the temptation to fret and fear

during times of change. But God has made promises that we can trust even in our old age.
