You know, every generation has its own buzzwords, has its own slogans.

You remember back in the 90s, the slogan and the buzzword was always networking.

You're looking for a job, network.

You're looking for a house, network. You're looking for a house, network.

You're looking for a wife, network.

I mean, we networked each other to death. And then came the World Wide Web and swallowed all the networking.

But you know, behind this philosophy of networking is this idea that

it is not what you know, but who you know. In fact, I remember a story that was circulating

about the two buddies who have one of them was always bragging. Bob was always talking

about all the people he knew and all the name dropping that he would tell Ken about. And finally,

Ken said to him, Bob, if you're such a hot shot, why don't you call the president on the phone?

He said, sure enough, he picked up the phone,

dials the numbers, and he handed the phone to his buddy, and he said, some familiar voice came on,

and said, hello, this is the president. Well, he said, well, this must be crazy. It's a fluke.

He said, what about the queen? He said, I know her too. Diled the number, handed him the phone.

Voice, familiar voice came. Hello, this is the queen of England. He said, that just cannot be.

He finally said, I tell you what, if you're really, really a hot number called the Pope.

He said, no, I'll do even something better than that. Let's go to the Vatican.

So they got on a plane and went to the Vatican. He left him down in St. Peter Square and he went in.

And a few minutes later, there was a hush among the crowd.

And there was the Pope in the balcony with Bob.
