An entitled worker refuses me access to their gym, claiming that I was sick, after I stepped

outside just to cool down. But in reality, I had been working out at the gym for an hour before

he showed up, and all of my stuff was in the locker. But despite my protests, he would not allow

me to get my stuff, and instead demanded that I leave. Here's what happened. Since the new year's

swarm is still all up in my gym at the moment, I've been getting up very early and going in at

around 4.30 in the morning. I can deal with needing toothpicks to keep my eyes open. If it means I

don't need to queue up for a bench, something that's relevant to the story, my gym is part of a chain,

and a separate location wound up getting into some serious trouble because a bunch of people

going there all caught the plague. Corporate came down with a decree for all locations. Scan the

membership, check the temperature on your forehead before being allowed entry. So I show up at 4.30

in the morning, stole my stuff away, and do the first half of my workout. I'm doing some cardio

along with some strength training. I don't know if this is the case with everybody, but after 45 minutes

of kicking my own butt, I'm feeling a little bit warmer than I usually am, while also typically

craving some sweet, sweet nicotine. Vaping indoors is frowned upon, and it's bloody cold outside,

what with it being January in New England. So this is a two birds with one stone kind of situation.

I grab my vape and my phone, and I walk around outside for a little bit without a coat. I wind up

chilling out real quick and decide I don't need much more nicotine, so I scurry inside, and there's

a new face behind the desk. A younger looking dude I've never seen before in my life. I show him the

vape, and I explain that I was just getting some air, and he says I still need to scan your card

and check your temperature. Well, no point in crabbing at the kid over corporate policy, so I let him scan

my card, and then he uses the thermometer, and says that I am not allowed to enter the gym,

because apparently I'm running a fever. I look at him and I say, dude, you really think I just
