Hey, I'm Dylan Marion, and today marks two years of making this podcast.

episode of conversations with people who hate me. Instead, I wanted to share with you one of the biggest

things I've learned from making this show, the idea

that empathy is not endorsement.

I've said that before on this show, but last year I got the opportunity to share that idea with a global audience

when the good people at TED invited me to give a talk about this podcast,

why I make it and what I've learned from the dozens of phone calls I've been on and

moderated in the last two years. It was such an honor to be invited on that

stage, to take all of the ideas that were buzzing around my head, all the

little notes I'd written in the margins of notebooks while producing

episodes, the talks I give at colleges around the country, and to synthesize them all into

one concise 10- minute TED Talk.

Also, I'm a big fan and viewer of TED Talks,

so I was freaking out a little.

And some sweet members of the TED staff
