reflect with Father Robert Barron on the Word of God, which is the Word on fire.

Father Barron will challenge us to open our hearts to the Word on fire, which is God's

Word of Love for each of us.

If our hearts are open, the Lord can change and transform us, who we might speak with

God's Love about the One who is Love.

the Word on fire.

Friends, we have a privilege today because one of the greatest stories ever told is our

gospel.

I'm talking about that magnificent story from the 24th chapter of Luke's gospel, the

story of Jesus and the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

As I've often said, the gospels have one great overarching question, who is Jesus Christ?

The question is not so much what did He do, what did He teach, but who is He?

The attempt to grasp Him to understand Him with at least relative adequacy, that's the

heart of the New Testament, all the gospels, all of Paul, everything.

Therefore it's very instructive to overhear these two disciples as they make their way

from Jerusalem to Emmaus, discussing all that had happened in regard to Jesus.

See because like us, like every disciple up and down the ages, they're struggling to

understand this strange figure, who was He, who is He?
