Hey guys, and welcome to the Moms and Mysteries podcast, a true crime podcast featuring myself, Mandy, and my dear friend Melissa.

0:31.8

Hi, Melissa.

0:33.0

Hi, Mandy. How are you?

0:34.3

I am doing awesome. How are you?

0:36.9

I'm good. I think we officially have to give a weather report this week. I feel like maybe we've been a week away from doing it. Mandy, what's our current weather report right this minute? Well, Melissa, we are hunkered down and preparing for the arrival of a hurricane that I really just started taking seriously about six hours ago.

0:58.3

Oh, my gosh. That's worse than I thought. Yeah. I mean, that's not entirely true. You know, that is a little bit of an exaggeration. But it's happened very quickly.

1:07.7

Very quickly. When they come from the Atlantic, we have like more than a week. We know about it. But when they come from the Gulf, it's so fast. They get so strong. All of that. And the path changes. Yes. So we still aren't exactly sure where it's going. We have an idea. But we're just thinking of everyone that's in the path. And it's going to be, I mean, it's just a rough hurricane. Especially the panhandle who's already been hit hard enough in the last. Multiple times. Yeah. It's been crazy. Um, so yeah, people are really going to, I don't know, I just feel so bad. People are going to be displaced and stuff. So I'm sure they're going to have, I'm sure the Red Cross is going to start, you know, asking for things. So if you're

1:49.0

able to give or donate or anything like that, I'm sure that will be very much needed. Yes. So October

1:55.0

is finally here. And we've been talking about the month of October, kind of leading up to this because this month we're doing things a little bit differently.

2:04.1

As many of you know, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this is a time to bring attention to an issue that affects countless individuals and families.

2:12.5

It's a month dedicated to shedding light on the reality of domestic violence, supporting survivors, and working

2:18.2

towards a future where everyone can feel safe in their own homes. For all five episodes that we'll

2:23.3

be having in the month of October, we're focusing on cases involving domestic violence. We've had

2:28.9

the privilege of working closely with families to share their loved ones stories, and it's an

2:33.2

absolute honor to have their trust as we tell these deeply personal experiences.

2:37.9

Throughout the episodes and on our social media, we will also be sharing helpful resources, so make sure you keep an eye out for those.

2:44.5

This month, we are also partnering with the Navigating Advocacy podcast to host a bag drive supporting domestic violence shelters in our community.

2:52.2

Survivors often leave dangerous situations with just the clothes on their backs, so these bags

2:56.9

can make a real difference. They'll include items like deodorant, toothbrushes, socks, and

3:02.2

even a simple handwritten note. And these things can go a really long way in showing someone

3:06.4

that they're not alone.

3:12.2

If you'd like to help, you can create a bag and donate it to a shelter near you, and we have included all the details for how to do that in our show notes. So let's come together this month
