delving deep into the background of the Life Sciences company Emergent Biosolutions, the manufacturer

of the controversial anthrax vaccine, and arguably one of the most corrupt pharmaceutical

companies to ever exist. We'll also be talking about the 2001 anthrax attacks, which conveniently

for emergent biosolutions rescued them from financial calamity. This company's past and the

anthrax attacks may seem like ancient history to some, but actually the parallels between what

we'll be covering today and the current coronavirus crisis are numerous and of critical importance,

especially since emergent biosolutions is set to manufacture several of the leading coronavirus vaccine

candidates in the U.S. despite years upon years of scandals.

Joining me to discuss this and more is Dr. Merrill Nass.

Merrill Nass is an internal medicine physician

with degrees from MIT in the University of Mississippi. Her areas of expertise include

Anthrax, biodefence, biological warfare, and Gulf War's Syndrome, as well as vaccine safety

and efficacy. Dr. Nass is also the first person in the world to have studied the characteristics of an epidemic

and prove that it was due to biological warfare. That epidemic, which was of anthrax, occurred in

Rhodesia, which is now Zimbabwe during its civil war between 1978 and 1981. Dr. Nass has given

seven testimonies to six different House and Senate committees on the anthrax vaccine, the anthrax letters, bioterrorism mitigation, and Gulf War Syndrome.

She helped form a coalition of service members and their families to investigate the illnesses, now known as Gulf War Syndrome, and to end mandatory anthrax vaccination for members of the military.

That group filed suit against the vaccine, which was and still is manufactured by

Emergent Biosolutions in federal court, leading to the revocation of that vaccine's license.

However, the FDA later reapproved the anthrax vaccine, even though it still did not meet

the requirements for safety and efficacy.
