Welcome to a I don't even know how to describe the podcast that's being sent out here on

a Saturday evening East Coast time for those who don't know for those who might be just

finding this out for the first time. This is Dave LaGrecco of Busted Open is a special

edition of the Busted Open podcast and the reason I'm doing this during a holiday weekend

on a Saturday afternoon is because we're just came down that Philip Brooks CM Punk has

been terminated by AEW and first and foremost before we get into any opinions and believe

me we're going to get into a lot of opinions on our Monday morning show on serious XM

fight nation and of course the Monday Busted Open podcast that drops but this is the press

release that was sent out statement from all elite wrestling and Tony Khan all the wrestling

AEW has terminated the wrestler and employment agreements between Philip Brooks CM Punk and AEW

with cause effective immediately the termination was confirmed today by Tony Khan CEO general

manager and head of creative of AEW the termination follows a week long internal investigation of

an incident occurring backstage at AEW all in London on Sunday August 27th following

the investigation the AEW discipline committee met and later convened with outside legal counsel

before making a unanimous recommendation to Khan that CM Punk be terminated with cause

Khan offered the following statement Phil played an important role within AEW and I thank

him for his contributions determination of his AEW contracts with cause is ultimately my

decision and mine alone of course I wish I didn't have to share this news which may come as

a disappointment to many of our fans nevertheless I am making the decision in the best interest of the
