Welcome to the podcast. It's a special edition featuring your boy's David Chen and Sadanth,

because you know, this podcast, when it was created, it was called Decoding Westworld,

had a different name. I know it feels like a million years ago when we were talking about a show

called Westworld on a podcast called Decoding Westworld. But it has since been rebranded,

and it's a good thing too, huh, Sadanth? Because if we had left a Decoding Westworld, then

this podcast would be pretty lame as of today. And honestly, you know, given that framing,

like I'd rather take the cancellation of Westworld and the cancellation of like all of TV.

So, given the option. Yes. I mean, basically what we are here to discuss is it was announced today

that HBO has canceled Westworld after season four. It's just canceled culture on a mug.

Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the people who made Westworld, had apparently planned to

conclude the season in season five. Here's what Nolan said. I'm reading from Hollywood Reporter.

Quote, we always planned for a fifth and final season. We are still in conversations with the

network. We very much hope to make them. And then Lisa Joy says, Jonah and I have always had an

ending in mind that we hope to reach. We have not quite reached it yet. HBO made a statement.

So, so let me pause there. And when I read that in the Hollywood Reporter, I was like, wait,

so is a fifth season still possible? Maybe at another network? Like who knows? HBO issued a

statement over the past four seasons. Lisa and Jonathan have taken viewers on a mind-bending

Odyssey, raising the bar at every step. We are tremendously grateful to them, along with their

immensely talented cast producers and crew. And all of our partners at Kilter Film's Bad Robot

and Warner Brothers Television, it's been a thrill to join them on this journey end quote. So like
