fired news has sent, oh, I don't know, the collective sports world into a tizzy. Well, when you

texted me the possibility that Brian Kelly could be fired on Sunday afternoon, I thought, oh, this is just, this is going to happen? And it's just a matter of when, because he's not going to coach another game, is he? Guys, I know people, you know, don't want to get into the personal stuff too much with us, but just you got to appreciate how funny this is, right? Connor is at a fall wedding. I am throwing this massive event. I'm a director of marketing now.

Never thrown massive event. I'm a director of marketing now. I kind of stepped up in my career. Never thrown an event in my life. I'm throwing a 55 plus prom. So I'm sitting there and I'm like, you know, looking at my phone and I see Brian Kelly is fired. And there's like people coming around me, talk to me about Brian Kelly. I got text flying in. I'm trying to like formulate my thoughts. I had to like hurry and get the pod done the day before, or not the day before, like that morning and like shortened it. And so this was just an all-time chaotic weekend for us, but I'm glad to see you again. Like I said, face of the place, feet the seat. But yeah, getting that news. And you know, us as regular people, you know, sometimes it's hard to reconcile the lives that these college football coaches live and seeing, you know, tens of millions of dollars while we're just trying to get on a flight. Right. Seriously. Yeah. So that's the explanation for the different background. Once again, still in Chicago, we'll be flying out in a matter of a couple of hours here, but this was the time that we were able to do it.

And don't you know it, $53.8 million still negotiating the buyout per multiple reports, which is a crazy, crazy thing.

And if you've kind of read up on this, I know Ross Dellinger wrote a really good story about this, but like they're still figuring out whether or not this is going to be the monthly payments of, you know, $800,000 or whatever with some offset money that can be,

you know, figured out based on whatever job Brian Kelly gets. We've talked about that before with

James Franklin and how that's going to be a thing that will be factored in with that buyout,

but they're still apparently negotiating it.

Essentially, it sounds like Scott Woodward didn't even have the power to make this decision.

And the Ross Delinger story was like, it's the most Louisiana thing ever to have the governor coming in

and basically saying, Brian Kelly, you are no longer the LSU football coach, did not make it to the end of year four, hand up, dead, dead wrong about this one, did not think that they would be willing to pull the trigger on a buyout that rich for someone who has won at least nine games every single season. This team is not getting to that mark. We talked about the high stakes coming into this season and how that was going to

determine everything.

But Will, to see this play out the way that it did with the optics being so bad, just so

unbelievably bad, it is a reminder that home losses to teams that you have just not

historically struggled with, especially at home, much like A&M.

It expedites things in a way that's hard to explain to the casual person.

Like I was explaining this to my mom's fiance of like, oh yeah, you know, as recently as, what was it, eight days ago, LSU was a one lost team.

And now they just paid a coach $53.8 million, or at least that's the initial term, to go away.

I can't even explain this to the regular person who doesn't follow this stuff religiously.

But I'm sure you've probably had to rationalize that as an LSU fan in some weird way.
