Hey, everybody, welcome to an emergency episode of Purple Insider, Matthew Collar, here, the show, of course, presented by Fandul.

And here's the news, my friends, Brian Flores has signed a contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings and will continue as the Vikings defensive coordinator so long as he does not get a head coaching job.

And he has interviewed twice with the Pittsburgh Steelers once with the Baltimore Ravens.

So it's not out of the question that he could still be a legitimate and viable candidate

for the Pittsburgh Steelers head coaching position.

But this is an enormous day for the Minnesota Vikings to get this done with Brian Flores.

I mean, I think there's no question about it that Flores, his overhaul of the Minnesota

Vikings defense over the last three years has been one of the most impressive jobs that I've

seen while covering this team.

And even if you go around the national football league for a coordinator to have the type of impact that Brian Flores has had on the Minnesota Vikings, on their defense, on their overall success last year, and the fact that they were able to get over 500 this year, he is as unique as they come in this league, as valuable as they come in this league,

somebody who has been not only an innovator, but also an identifier of talent for guys

who fit his defense and will go over what this means for the offseason and how the Minnesota

Vikings will now approach their free agency, their draft, knowing that, again, barring

the fact that he could still get a head coaching job, barring a head coaching job that he will

go forward here with the Minnesota Vikings.

And while it has been very interesting over the last couple of weeks to talk about and to wonder,

what is it that made Brian Flores want to seek out potential opportunities for lateral moves,

and he did have one interview reportedly with the Washington commanders to take over

potentially their defensive coordinator position.

It always seemed like there was a good chance that he would come back to the Vikings if

you believe the way that Kevin O'Connell was talking about it.

And I had no reason not to believe when Kevin O'Connell said that they were being, quote,
