But that's not the way that God works, not with this master who, like it or not, is the God figure in the parable.

He doles out his talents unequally.

And the old Adam in us, like a spoiled brat at the table,

cries out, hey, that's not fair.

He doesn't give them more than they can handle. He doesn't give them less than they need and

are able to manage, but he gives to each according to his ability.

In the name of Jesus. The hymn we just sang reminds me that we who live in California get kind of a dress rehearsal

for that

the coming day of the Lord, when flames on flames shall ravage earth,

and if that isn't enough, and all the earth be shaken.

So we kind of do get a foretaste of the destruction to come, and in that destruction also

our salvation.

The point of today's parable of the end times and these last three Sundays will deal with

parables of the end times in the last day the day of judgment the point of

this parable is fear. Fear is one of the great paralyzers. Fear of failure, fear of punishment, fear of criticism, fear of condemnation.

It can often begin with a harsh word from a parent.

You didn't do good enough.
