Well, welcome to the show. I'm so excited to have you here. I feel like this is a long, long time coming because if people do not know, Pivot is my supervisor. And so I get the privilege of meeting with her weekly. She has been the person who has helped me as I'm getting my hours and working towards my license. And I work at her private practice. And you are an EMDR. Well, I call you an EMDR expert. What is your actual title as far as EMDR is concerned?

So, yeah, I'm a certified. I'm certified by Andrea to do EMDR and I'm a certified

And how long have you been working in therapy?

Two decades, almost 20 years.

And you were a professor.

Yeah, tell me a little bit about in our listeners how you got into this field and how you

were even, I think everybody's really interested in hearing how and why therapists became therapists.

So I had a therapist when I was in high school that I loved. And that experience kind of always made me think that this was something that I wanted to get into.

And then I studied psychology and undergrad at USC.

Then I went on to get my master's and my doctorate.

And then in working with clients, I realized that what I learned in my doctorate program was great.

It was really helpful.

But it didn't really address more trauma experiences.

It helped short term, but a lot of people were coming back. And I felt like there was something

deeper there that I maybe didn't know about. And so that's when I looked more into

psychodynamic work. And so I did a postdoctoral program after I got my doctorate to learn more about

psychodynamic work.

And then from there, I kept hearing about EMDR.

And there is sort of this overlap in some of the psychodynamic work and EMDR.
