0:00.0	Well, welcome to the show. I'm so excited to have you here. I feel like this is a long, long time coming because if people do not know, Pivot is my supervisor. And so I get the privilege of meeting with her weekly. She has been the person who has helped me as I'm getting my hours and working towards my license. And I work at her private practice. And you are an EMDR. Well, I call you an EMDR expert. What is your actual title as far as EMDR is concerned?
0:35.4	So, yeah, I'm a certified. I'm certified by Andrea to do EMDR and I'm a certified
0:41.3	consultant.
0:42.6	Yes.
0:42.9	All right.
0:43.2	And how long have you been working in therapy?
0:46.6	Two decades, almost 20 years.
0:48.6	And you were a professor.
0:50.0	Yeah, tell me a little bit about in our listeners how you got into this field and how you
0:53.6	were even, I think everybody's really interested in hearing how and why therapists became therapists.
0:59.5	So I had a therapist when I was in high school that I loved. And that experience kind of always made me think that this was something that I wanted to get into.
1:11.7	And then I studied psychology and undergrad at USC.
1:15.8	Then I went on to get my master's and my doctorate.
1:19.0	And then in working with clients, I realized that what I learned in my doctorate program was great.
1:24.5	It was really helpful.
1:25.1	But it didn't really address more trauma experiences.
1:31.7	It helped short term, but a lot of people were coming back. And I felt like there was something
1:36.0	deeper there that I maybe didn't know about. And so that's when I looked more into
1:41.3	psychodynamic work. And so I did a postdoctoral program after I got my doctorate to learn more about
1:48.2	psychodynamic work.
1:49.4	And then from there, I kept hearing about EMDR.
1:54.1	And there is sort of this overlap in some of the psychodynamic work and EMDR.
