Hey, folks, Scott Weingard here, and this is the M-Crit podcast. Today on the podcast, charting for

legal protection and what comes along with it, which is patient safety. And this episode was really,

it started in my mind because my coaching partner and I, Rob Orman, were doing our out-on-time

course for the first time. And that

course was built on how to chart so that you will leave your shift on time and yet have

maximal billing. And, you know, in regards to what we're doing this episode on, you are

protected medically. Now, that really matters in the U.S. where we have a really litigious

society. But even if you're in a place that has more reasonable ideas about medical malpractice,

you still want to chart for patient safety. And that's really what this episode is about,

is protecting yourself, protecting your patient through good charting technique. And I'm joined by friend of the show,

a brilliant emergency physician, Mike Weinstock. And the reason we're releasing this episode now,

we've been waiting, is the 13th anniversary edition of Mike's book. He has this entire

bounceback series. All of them are fantastic, but maybe the best in

the series, you know, the real perfect bloom to pluck is bounce backs medical and legal, because

what it does is it takes the cases where docs have been sued, unfortunately, and looks at their

documentation and where it went awry from protecting the doc, protecting the patient.

So we're going to take a case from that book. We're going to go over it. And we're going to talk

through Mike's and Mize collected wisdom on avoiding getting sued, being protected if you are

sued, and keeping your patients safe through charting. So let's dive right in.
