Hey folks Scott Weingard here and this is the M-Crit podcast.

Today on the podcast we're discussing nasty,

necretizing soft tissue infections.

Specifically we're going to be discussing almost entirely,

necretizing fashitis.

Now, when I was training in emergency medicine,

I didn't see much of this.

I think I had one case in my entire four years

of emergency medicine training.

You know, we had a lot of suspected cases,

but just one real case.

And so I didn't have much experience with this disease.

And then, when I did my first trauma fellowship, I was on Dr. Scalia's team and

Dr. Scalia's team was the nasty team. In addition to all the trauma we also had the

necrotizing soft tissue infection service and I saw more neck

fashion I ever could have imagined in all its various varieties and these patients were

sick as dirt and I gained a real appreciation for the devastating effects both from

the perspective of loss of pieces of your body that had to be removed

in order to operatively treat this, as well as the incredible degree of heun dynamic instability

many of these patients presented with. of of my career and so I want to talk about that today necrotizing

fasciais now as I was thinking about how to speak about this it really made me

come back to the essential roots of what amcret is all about because I'm like I can't just give a review article in podcast form that's not what I do.
