Hey folks, Scott Weingart here and this is the M-Crit Podcast. Now, today on the

podcast we're going to do an airway topic even though it is not Janu

Airway. It's actually December. So why am I doing an

airway topic? And you know this time of the year, the time after Thanksgiving in

America until Christmas, is one of my favorite times of the year.

I love it getting dark early. I love that it's still warm enough to walk around without bundling

yourself up like a snowman.

I love the whoga feeling of the early nights and candles and everything is great. And my real and my relaxed experience was made discordant by a piece published in

M-RAP in November.

And it was on a topic that I had thought about multiple times

addressing on MCRIT and on MRAP as well.

And the topic is the retrograde intubation.

And I discarded this as a topic.

I thought on both venues it would be net negative to discuss

retrograde intubation that it may only lead people astray to doing things they probably

shouldn't be doing.

And so I decided I just wouldn't cover it.

I'd leave it in the coffers of history

along with things like blind digital intubation

and blind nasal intubation. Things in yesteryear we used to do and now we

don't need to do anymore. Now that's a little unfair to retrograde intubation. It does have some small tiny minuscule

utility still in the airway regimen, but not enough to make it worth the
