the podcast.

We're going to discuss sepsis.

It's been so long.

This used to be a big portion of the show is, you know, the various screw-ups in the

new guidelines and publications.

It's been a while, so I'm super excited to get back to talking about this kind of nebulous

disease state that we have to deal with so much on an everyday basis in the ED and critical

carry units.

What we're going to use as a framework for the discussion is going over the 2021 surviving

sepsis campaign guidelines.

Now I've gone over these guidelines with each iteration and what I was expecting is a

steaming pile of crap.

And I've got to say, you know, I'll give a spoiler up front.

They're not so bad.

They're not so bad, which is, for me, like the highest praise I could ever imagine,

giving to a SSC campaign guideline publication.

You know, they're really getting closer to getting things right.

Before we get to that, I will tell you as a quick ad break that we are finally doing

reanimate eight, that is our resuscitative ECMO course, which we've had to put off for

two years, both because of COVID and then because of fears from COVID surges that has

kept the universities we have done the courses that from opening and allowing us to present.
