Today is a gift and in a way that I would not have acknowledged or appreciated even a year ago.

Today's 10-minute walk starts right after this.

Back in Myrtle Beach, after a few days in Fort Walton Beach, I know it all sounds very warm.

Trust me, at the moment, it is not. More on that in a moment.

Drove home yesterday, it was about 10 and a half hours, and it was the most efficient drive, long car ride I think I've ever made.

So if I were to drive from my daughter's house to our house without stopping, nine hours and 44 minutes,

but the gas tank in our car is not large enough to do it without stopping, even if I'm hydrating

strategically, if you know what I mean.

So I stopped at the midway point, just over the Georgia state line.

I'd been in the car almost five hours, got something to eat, gasped up, used the restroom,

and then did the rest of the trip without stopping.

So got back to Myrtle Beach late yesterday afternoon.

My wife, who was not able to go because of work commitments,

asked how the trip was.

She said, did it meet your expectations?

I said it was far better. It was a very special, meaningful trip, not just for me, but I think also for my daughter and five grandchildren. Now, some of them are too young. They won't remember this. But I think certainly the oldest two.

They may remember the time that Papa Dee showed up.

Completely unexpected, complete surprise, and spent a few days with them and just had a great time.
