since you first met Father Jonathan Morris here on Fox News. Back in 2005, fresh off his visit with the late Pope John Paul II, Father John recounted that moment with the Pope in his final days.

Not long after, he became a regular contributor to Fox News, but tonight he is here for the first time as simply Jonathan Morris, telling the untold story behind his difficult

decision to leave the priesthood after devoting his life to the church since he was in his early

20s. So Jonathan, hard to say that at first, but we'll get, we'll get used to it. It's great

to see you. Thank you very much for being here tonight. So, you know, I mean,

you and I've been friends a long time ever since I got here. And it has always been, you know,

such a great source of solace to so many of us here to have you sort of be in our lives as a priest

and as such a good friend. So now you've made a very big

decision in your life. And talk to us a little bit about, you know, sort of the earliest stages

of your questions about whether or not you wanted to continue in the priesthood.

Well, tonight is a real bittersweet moment for me, just to start bittersweet because

bitter in the sense that I love so many aspects of my ministry and my life.

I thrived in so many ways.

In other words, I was happy at many times during these, gosh, 25 years since I left for the seminary. I left Akron, Ohio. I broke up with my girlfriend. I left university. I surprised my parents, freaked them out, and surprised everybody who knew me. me and I said I want to give up everything
