Today we pick the winners and losers of the GOP debate last night. Trump gives an exclusive interview

to Tucker Carlson and is now set to be arrested later this evening. Sounds like we've got a lot to talk about

and it all starts right now.

Welcome to The News and Why It Matters. I am Sarah Gonzalez and today we will go over the GOP debate

from last night in case you missed our coverage that we had going on all night and I do mean all night.

Do you see the bags under my eyes? We were here all night and here we are again, but today I am joined by

Yaku Buiens, Blasey B. Contributor and host of the bottom line and Jason Butchal, Chief Researcher of the Glenn Beck program.

And you guys, I know you guys both watched both the GOP debate and the Trump and Tucker Carlson interview that we will get to later on.

So I want to try to not, let's just like tackle one at a time because there is a lot to cover with this particular debate.

Now, I want to, I want to play some clips and then I want to get into kind of.

No one's told me I can't. This might be the last show of The News and Why It Matters that you see, which is really, really sad

because I have a new set directly across from here that is like almost ready to go.

And well, I appreciate that. I can't wait to have an unveiling for the audience.

But so I want to start with Ron DeSantis, who obviously is second to Trump, I think in everyone's view of, well, it's going to be Trump.

But if Trump were to somehow leave the race for any particular reason, which I don't know, they keep trying to arrest him and throw him in jail.

So that might be the case. DeSantis would be the obvious front runner at that point.

And I know that there were, you know, there were some critiques of Ron DeSantis and how he is running his campaign.

I think he had a lot that he needed to show the people.

And so I want to play for you, Ron DeSantis talking about Ukraine, which Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, want to stay in Ukraine forever and never, never, never, never, never.

And Ron DeSantis talking about Ukraine and talking about defending our borders rather than sending money to Ukraine.

I think had a pretty strong moment here. Let's watch that.
