So we thought we'd create a little sort of intro podcast to tell you about the vision and purpose of this Quick Hits series. So welcome back, Dr. Hensley,

and welcome to EMCases, I think for the first time, Dr. Billen. It is the first time. Good to be here.

Glad to be here, mate. Right on. So actually, first, Dr. Bill, and since you're new to EM cases,

do you mind just telling us a little bit about your professional background and how you got into

wilderness medicine in the first place?

Sure. I'm currently working as the Emergency Department Medical Director in Powell, Wyoming, Director of VMS there.

I was introduced to Wilderness Medicine by a faculty member when I did residency at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

So it's been about 25 going

on 30 years. I've been involved in Wilderness Medicine, eventually led to being president of the

Wildest Medical Society for a short while, and I've remained involved ever since, still

involved in search and rescue in Wyoming. Fantastic. And Dr. Hansley?

Yeah, so I got exposed to wilderness medicine in medical school in Tennessee and kind of continued on in residency.

And Dr. Bill and I's past overlapped as I got my fellow while he was president and fellow

of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

And that worked out really well because

I created a wilderness med student rotation in South Texas where I was faculty. And now I'm in Australia
