Summary

On Saturday, Elon Musk announced his intention to create a new political party, called the “America Party.” The announcement follows Musk’s public fallout with President Donald Trump over Musk’s exit from the administration and spending provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill enacted on Friday. While the America Party is not yet an official political entity, Musk says that he hopes to “crack the uniparty system” and represent “the 80% in the middle” in the United States.

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening and good evening and welcome to the Tangle podcast, the place we

0:22.7

get views from across the political spectrum, some independent thinking, and a little bit of my

0:26.7

take. I'm your host, Isaac Saul, and on today's episode, we're going to be talking about the

0:30.7

America Party. That is Elon Musk's new effort to try to form a third party, and I guess

0:37.3

upend the duopoly. We're going to talk a little

0:39.9

bit about how he plans to do this, share some reactions from the left and the right, and then,

0:44.7

of course, you'll get my take. Before we jump into that, I want to give you a quick heads up about

0:49.5

tomorrow. I'm going to be doing a podcast about some things I've been wrong about. Something that has always

0:56.2

irked me about political coverage is the way pundits and people who offer analysis or commentary

1:01.4

like me are drawn into making hot takes to get attention, but then never take ownership of them

1:08.4

when they're actually wrong. I've set out to make sure that

1:11.7

Tangle is never like that. So every once in a while, I like to take stock of what I've gotten right

1:16.7

and wrong. And in tomorrow's members on the edition, I'm going to focus the lens a little bit.

1:21.7

I'm going to be taking personal stock and answering the question, what have I gotten wrong

1:25.6

about Trump's second term so far?

1:28.2

Because I have made a number of predictions about how things would go in his second term.

1:32.9

And I came up with five good examples of things I got wrong.

1:36.3

So I'm going to talk about them tomorrow.

1:38.2

All right.

1:38.5

With that, I'm going to send it over to John for today's main topic.
