Summary

1:00.0	landscape that's less flat upland and more a deeply carved table and it's sandstone and limestone
1:09.0	layers worn over time into steep ridges, narrow hollers, and sheltered coves.
1:16.6	The result is a landscape rich with scenic overlooks, towering bluffs, incredible waterfalls, and dense forests. And y'all, look, to be honest, I'm extra partial to it,
1:32.3	because when I was in college, this was my favorite place to go backpacking on weekends.
1:39.3	I even still take my kids to visit waterfalls there every so often.

1:54.3	Well, much of this landscape is now accessible to folks like us through places like the South Cumberland State Park and the Savage Gulf State Natural Area.

2:04.4	settlers, this region was part of the broader homeland of the Cherokee and the indigenous peoples
2:12.5	who came before them. Now, they didn't build large permanent towns there on the plateau, but they knew the
