I'm Maria Baer, alongside John Stone Street. John, there was a little bit of an election this week.

0:34.1

And we've talked before about, in some cases, what we hope is a vibe shift culturally

0:40.1

on a lot of political issues and pre-political issues. But this week, as you know, many, many

1:31.0

too that the vast majority of white voters in virginia voted for a a black woman even though she did not

1:38.3

win that's an interesting challenge to uh the attempt to racialize the narrative of the United States in ways that has been

1:47.1

pretty common over the last decade or really couple decades, but really a part of the

1:52.7

critical theory mood that were kind of, it seems like there's some, you know, more pushback

1:57.9

on. There's just explanations of the political realities, you know,

2:04.6

that point to these kind of cultural or ideological frameworks. And they just have proven to be

2:09.4

inadequate. So all these things, I think, are interesting things to talk about. But, you know,
