My friends, if you are lucky enough to have some elders in your life,

maybe it's your grandparents, maybe it's your parents if they're still around,

are you spending enough time with them? Are you absorbing and

soaking up their wisdom while you can? I was just watching the documentary Blue Zones, I think it's called, with my husband, on Netflix.

And the Blue Zones are the places in the world where people live the longest.

They have the most amount of what's called a centenarian. So someone

who lives to a hundred or above. And there's a place in Greece, there's a place in Japan, there's

a place in Italy, there's a place in Costa Rica, there's also a place in the

USA, and the author, the creator of this documentary, he's going around trying to identify what it is that

allows these people to live for so long and of course it's diet, it's community, there's faith,

even there's a wine element in one part of the world it's fascinating to

watch but one piece that really stood out to me that I think is really

really overlooked is how much time we spend with people who've lived for a long time,

who've simply been on planet Earth for many years, who've learned something and who have a

lot of wisdom to impart.

And because my parents were both a little older,

so my parents both had me when they were 42,

I never knew any of my grandparents, not even one of them.

And I've always kind of envied in the nicest way people who have these kind of elders

to look up to.

And anyway, during the Blue Zones documentary, there was a story that was shared that I wanted to share with you today because I thought it was lovely. And I thought, huh, I wonder if we're missing out by not paying attention, spending time
