Hello, I hope you are well. In today's day we will be talking about the death penalty, specifically

of one of the most cruel mechanisms that have been used to apply the penalty chapter.

As we have previously talked about, particularly in the episode 22 of this podcast,

titled Rochvically, the death penalty was forbidden in Puerto Rico in 1929.

In that episode we talk about this topic and about what we are talking about,

that in 1927 it became the last person to be executed by the State in Puerto Rico.

Today we will be talking about the history of the carotéville, of some important executions

or occurrences in Spain and about executions with the carotéville in Puerto Rico.

The caroté was a mechanism of executions that began to be used from the time of Roman Empire.

In the medieval era, the decapitation with the sword was considered a mere reserve

for the members of the noble. However, for the villains, there is the word Bill,

who was the inhabitants of the villains or the clever ones,

was used to executions with a caroté, basically giving them with a stick on the head.

This method then replaced by the compression of the neck of the condenado

using the caroté as a tourniquet. During the Middle Ages, the carotéville was used in Spain.

The castigo with the carotéville was exported to America during the Spanish conquest.

In 1533, the last Emperor Inca, Tahualpa, was executed precisely with this method in the city of Cajamarca in Peru.

With the passage of the years, this method of executions was evolving.

In his most modern stage, the carotéville was a type of chair,

regularly built in Madera, in which the condenado died.
