Good evening, everyone. I'm Scott Feinberg, the executive editor of awards coverage at The Hollywood Reporter and a trustee professor at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, from which I will say for our listeners, tonight's episode of THR's Awards Chatter podcast is being recorded.

Tonight, several hundred students and I are fortunate enough to be joined by a singer-songwriter

who, just two nights ago, was at the Grammys.

There, in recognition of the song Golden, that is featured in the Netflix film K-pop Demon

Hunters, the most watched original title in the streamers history with more than 500 million

views, she won the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, the first Grammy ever

awarded to K-pop, or Korean popular music. It's just the latest in a long line of golden-related

accolades for this 34-year-old Korean American, who also provides the singing voice

in the film for the character Rumi, one-third of the girl group at its center, Huntrix.

The earwormy tune shot to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for eight weeks,

marking the first time a K-pop act not associated with BTS topped that chart, and making Huntrix

the first girl group to top it since Destiny's Child with Bootylicious back in 2001.

It went on to be recognized with a total of four Grammy nominations, including Song of the Year,

making her the first Korean-American female songwriter ever nominated in the history of that category.

It also won the best song critics choice in Golden Globe Awards, and less than two weeks ago,

it was nominated for the best original song Oscar.

In short, it was the song of the summer, and fall, and winter, and a true global phenomenon
