Summary

Eileen Davidson steps Behind The Rope. Actress, Author, Model, Two Time Emmy Winner, Wife, Mother, Soap Legend, and last, but certainly not least, Real Housewife - Eileen Davidson! Eileen first came into our lives four decades ago through her Iconic role as Ashley Abbott on “The Young and The Restless”, a role which she is still playing today. Eileen chats about her entire Soap career which has included not only Y & R, but Santa Barbara, The Bold and The Beautiful and Days of Our Lives, the last including a record breaking five different roles, all off which has lead to two Daytime Emmy’s for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Eileen chats about her various other films and projects including, a highlight for us, The Last Sharknado. Of course we chat with Eileen about her RHOBH career as a full time Diamond Holder over three epic seasons which included "run ins” with the likes of Brandi Glanville, Lisa Vanderpump and Kim Richards, one of the most iconic RHOBH cast trips ever involving smashed glass and Harry Hamlin and the world learning the meaning of “Munchausen’s Syndrome”. Eileen chats about the status of her many RHOBH relations today, the legal troubles friend Erika Jayne (hey, we would like a part on Y & R too!) is going through, and the just completed season - more Erika, Hello Kathy Hilton and more! We discuss the unprecedented move by Bravo to hire actresses as Housewives the season Eileen and Lisa Rinna were hired, whether that formula works, and discuss others who have come and stayed or gone - Garcelle Beauvais, Denise Richards, Kim Fields (ALT Anyone?). Eileen has said in the past that she has “a lot less stress” in her life since RHOBH so we have to ask, would you ever go back and who on casts past or current would you not work with? Finally, Eileen chats about what it’s like to be married to Hollywood Royalty Husband Vince Van Patten, the secrets to a successful happy marriage in Hollywood and what projects are next up for this class act of an Icon!!! @eileendavidsonofficial @behindvelvetrope @davdyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by THIRDLOVE - http://www.thirdlove.com/velvet (20% Off First Purchase) Brought to you by SIMPLISAFE - https://www.simplisafe.com/velvetrope (20% Off Entire New System & First Month Free) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. You know, it's it's well like everybody we're dealing with the COVID thing, which is a game changer for all of us. So it's really about trying to stay optimistic and positive.

1:08.3

With a lot of you know, a lot of crap hit the fan right now. There's a lot going on, right? It's very much in my face because of working. So I mean, I'm getting emails weekly is, you know, people have tested positive.

1:22.3

So it's definitely part of my reality.

1:25.3

You know, and I had to throw model in there because that is where you started in the business way that when.

1:31.3

I kind of sort of, but yes, I did. Well, when you started in 1982 on why and on.

1:40.3

Yeah, which is going to be 40 years next year. Like when I know. But when you think back to that, I mean, does that seem all like another lifetime or is it who's that girl or do you remember that vividly?

1:54.3

Of course, I remember it vividly. I mean, you know, it doesn't seem like it was that long ago, but clearly it was. But yeah, I mean, you know, I was only 22, not even quite 23.

2:06.3

So I mean, it was it was a huge deal and it changed my life clearly forever.

2:13.3

And it was, did you think when you started that, you know, you would have a 40 year off and on career and so it's now, I mean, I didn't think I'd have a, I mean, who knew I came to the sad realization when I first became an actor when I was around 20, I started taking classes.

2:30.3

And then you're just so excited to get one job and then I get the one job right a guest start on a show or I got, I got a horror movie and blah, blah, blah. And then I realized that that was just one gig. I had to string along like a bunch of gigs to have a career.

2:44.3

And it was a very rude awakening for me. I was like, oh my god, how am I going to do this. So yeah, I mean, I'm very grateful. It's been, it's been quite a ride. I was actually dancing barefoot at a club in Orange County when a photographer came up to me and said, do you want to do some modeling.

2:59.3

I was literally barefoot dancing at a club and I started doing some modeling and then that kind of kind of, I got bit by it.

3:08.3

You just kind of fell in love with acting.

3:11.3

Well, you know, I was, I was a model first, but like, you know, Orange County model, I did some modeling in Hawaii. When I was in Hawaii, I was there for a couple of months staying with the girlfriend, we didn't have a phone or TV or car. And I did some modeling and and why key key to get my air to my air, my airplane, fair home.

3:29.3

And I remember today on the beach going, do you want to go back to school or do you want to move to LA. And I was like, you know what, I'm just going to give it a shot. And I moved to LA and I started acting classes to loosen me up for modeling and then modeling when, you know, I was never tall enough anyway.

3:43.3

Anyway, that's how it kind of started.

3:45.3

Well, when I think of soap legends, I mean, I personally think of Jeannie Francis, Eileen Davidson and Miss Susan Luchy. You've been on Y and R, holding beautiful Santa Barbara days of our lives.

3:59.3

And I think about the old TV history when you played five roles on days of our lives, what is that like is that like yay. This is so challenging and this is amazing for an actress or is it like holy crap is so hard.

4:13.3

It was both it was both I'd asked for it. They were going to cast somebody who kind of looked like me to play Susan and I said, can I, you know, I'd like to play both roles.
