Summary

In today's episode, Chase and May talk about relationships, boundary setting, and healing. We will all encounter people in our lives that test our boundaries or share different values from us. On top of that, we are all constantly changing and healing, which can create friction in our relationships. You may love someone deeply, but if they cannot meet you where you are, it's hard to maintain a healthy dynamic. Ending relationships is not a failure, and it is okay to leave space in your heart for people while realizing they cannot be in your life right now.

May shares how she took stock of her relationships in order to identify what wasn't working for her. Furthermore, she discusses how she developed boundaries to protect her wellbeing and maintain a positive attitude toward others.

Additionally, Chase and May discuss how healing is a continuous process. The two will discuss how their foundation of radical honesty and communication has enabled them to communicate where they are emotionally in order to know what to do individually to support each other, and when to focus on themselves alone.

Key Highlights

  • May talks about what she calls, “the common denominator”- the idea that it helps to notice the patterns and trends in your life. May shares how she took inventory of her life and analyzed her relationships after feeling betrayed by people close to her.
  • Chase and May talk about the importance of setting boundaries. May talks about how she tends to view all people as innately good and how she had to look at her life through a different lens in order to establish the boundaries with people and not get taken advantage of.
  • It is normal for people in your life to serve different purposes, and one person cannot meet all your needs. May talks about managing her expectations for people and how she categorizes people now.
  • It is okay to let go of people who are not serving you in your life. Chase and May talk about their views on setting boundaries, moving on from some people, even family, and their thoughts on divorce as a solution to relationship problems.
  • Chase and May talk about their individual healing journeys and define what healing means to them. When does healing start, and what does it look like? How do you support yourself, your partner, and your joint relationship as each person heals and grows individually?
