Good morning and welcome to episode 595 of Effectively Wild, the Daily Podcast from

0:23.0

Baseball Perspectus presented by the play index at baseballreference.com. I am Ben Lindbergh of

0:28.7

Grantland, normally joined by Sam Miller of Baseball Perspectus who is on vacation until Friday's

0:34.7

episode. So joining me today is a frequent guest and frequent guest co-host Russell Carlton of

0:42.4

BP. Hello, Russell. They're sending in the B team. And we have another guest today. Sam and I

0:50.5

haven't done a ton of Cooperstown talk this winter. Typically we save it all up for one big

0:57.4

blowout episode with a moustache-y old man who at some point this year will be able to say that he

1:03.1

has written the book on the Hall of Fame. But can already say that he writes a book's worth of

1:45.6

1:52.4

a bounty of Hall of Famers. And I think at the very least we're going to get three. And it's

1:59.3

quite possible that we get four. And boy, if you look at the public ballot tracker, I don't think

2:05.8

it's out of the question that we could even get five, which would be miraculous if that happened.

2:11.8

But at the very least, I think we're almost certainly going to get three, which would be the first time

2:18.4

since 1954 or 1955 that we've had at least three in back to back years.

2:25.8

And there's usually a pretty big gap for some of these candidates between the pre-release exit

2:32.6

poll numbers and the actual one. So right now, Mike Piazza is just tracking above the 75% threshold.

2:40.9

So he might not make it BGO is maybe out of the danger zone or he's close to...
