Summary

EWFI
Ben Lindbergh and Meg Rowley banter about Ben’s week away, Julio Rodríguez’s hot streak and the Mariners’ surge, and the White Sox firing Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn, plus a grab bag of topics that caught Ben’s attention while he was in Sweden: the Dodgers signing Kolten Wong; a Cubs adult-diaper ad; an oddly ricocheting Luke Raley home run; errors and official scoring, another incident that made Miles Mikolas mad; Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and the Tigers’ rebuild; Bobby Witt Jr.’s sophomore breakout; Nationals extensions, CJ Abrams, and Joey Meneses; the similar seasons of J.D. Martinez and Justin Turner; the potential for good teams to miss the playoffs, and radical realignment; Jon Singleton returning to the Astros; Dallas Keuchel continuing to pitch; a nifty Brewers trade revisited (and Christian Yelich’s bounceback); the sale of Fogo de Chão; John Angelos’s latest groaners; preseason prediction philosophies, and more, plus a Future Blast (1:32:04) from 2049 and a few follow-ups (1:33:37).

Hello and welcome to episode 2049 of Effectively Wild, a fan-graphed baseball podcast brought

I'm Aigrali a fan-graphed and I am joined again by Ben Lindbergh of the Ring,

0:35.2

a returned from his European adventures. Ben, how are you?

0:39.2

I'm okay, how are you?

0:41.0

I'm glad you're back. I'm well, you know. I always feel lucky to count so many fun

0:46.9

folks as baseball pals, but you know you missed your co-host when he's gone for a week,

0:51.6

so it's good to have you back, bud.

0:54.0

Yeah, it was tough for me to listen to you talk to a different Ben on Effectively Wild,

0:58.9

as I was listening to that. It was kind of screwed me up mentally as I was hearing you talk,

1:05.2

and then sometimes say Ben and was unable to respond, or I guess I was able to respond,

1:10.8

but you couldn't hear me. I couldn't hear you. No, did you enjoy the two times that I accidentally

1:15.2

called Bowman Ben? Yes, yes I did, I appreciate you with that. I thought about that.

1:19.6

Yeah, well, I had a nice time. Sweden was nice. I'm a blonde guy named Lindbergh,

1:24.4

so I fit right in, and I think you called it the cold north on one of those episodes,

1:29.7

but it was actually quite temperate. It's often quite cold as I understand it,

1:34.2

but at this time of year I think I picked the perfect time. In fact, it was so temperate that

1:39.9

Europe's aversion to air conditioning didn't even bother me that much. That's how cool it was.

1:45.4

I will admit to not really knowing what they were working with. I guess it's the northern hemisphere,

1:52.7

so it would make sense. It would be warm, or at least warm for them, but I'm glad that you had a
