Summary

EWFI
Ben Lindbergh and Jeff Sullivan banter about an engaging Game 4 of the ALDS and sum up the Red Sox-Yankees series, the end of Astros-Indians, and the ALDS as a whole. Then they answer listener emails about working the count and avoiding the bullpen, why broadcasts don’t give screen time to streakers, and the best type of playoff rent-a-player, plus a Stat Blast about shifts and line drives.

It brought me to you.

Hello, and welcome to episode 1281 of Effectively Wild a baseball podcast from

0:29.5

Fangraths presented by our Patreon supporters. I am Ben Lindbergh of the

0:33.6

Ringer joined by Jeff Sullivan of Fangraths. Hello. I'm sorry that you don't get to see

0:37.6

any more playoff baseball in person. Well, about that. I didn't actually see

0:42.5

game four of the ALDS in person. I did something to my neck. I don't know what it

the gym and then pain started and pain got worse and pain is still bad.

1:04.2

Podcasting through pain, but I'm kind of walking around very stiffly like C3PO and

1:09.7

turning my entire body when I want to look at something instead of turning my head.

1:14.3

So I figured it wouldn't be the best time to be in the press box.

1:17.5

Yeah, so you were a late scratch for press row, but yeah, I did the, I did the same thing

1:22.1

last week also in the gym and I can tell you that neck injuries like back injuries or

1:27.3

those injuries where you don't necessarily think so much about them at the time until

1:31.5

shortly thereafter you realize that your neck and back are involved in pretty much every movement

1:34.7

that your body does and they engender next to no sympathy from anybody else.

1:39.9

You can't, you can't tell someone, I hurt my neck and then expect like a

1:44.4

I can tell you to wear your hug or something. It's just like no.

1:47.5

Well, that's the last thing you want. You don't want anyone to touch you.

1:50.7

That's okay, that's a fair point, but what do you say?
