Good morning and welcome to episode 110 of Effectively Wild, the daily podcast from baseball

0:25.6

perspective. It is episode one of the year 2013. Ben Lindbergh is in New York, New York. I'm

0:33.5

Sam Miller in Long Beach, California. Ben Lindbergh, how was your fiscal cliff? My end of the year was

0:42.1

nice. I live a few avenues away from Times Square but I was not in Times Square and I watched Friday

0:50.8

nightlights for the last five days or so. Really, what do you think of that show? I think it's great.

0:57.3

How far in are you? I finished it. I didn't watch the entire thing in those five days. I had been

1:02.7

watching it before but it is excellent. When I started it, I wasn't so sure because I don't care

1:09.0

about football of any sort, let alone high school football but it became not really about the football

1:15.6

pretty quickly so I enjoyed it. When I started it, I was very sure but the further and I got,

1:22.4

which would be probably around early season two, I suppose. I started to get a bit tired of some

1:29.2

of the same storytelling tropes over and over and found it a little bit of a burden to get through

1:35.9

and I was skipping some episodes by the end. So it's not a show that I really generally recommend,

1:41.4

although I enjoyed parts of it. I liked it more as it went on. Although season two, I know some

1:46.7

people didn't like because of some of the strange storyline, so I didn't. Yeah, I mean season two

1:51.1

was sort of horrible but yeah, I mean I thought there were structural issues that I started to

1:57.6

notice in season two in addition to season two itself also being the worst season anyway.

2:02.4

Alright, Friday nightlights. There we go. Today we're going to talk about just a few or perhaps even

2:09.6

a couple emails including one about pitchers hitting. So why don't you start reading?

2:16.8

Okay, you want me to start with the pitchers hitting one or the one that we probably will insert

2:21.5

more quickly. It doesn't matter to me. Alright, Mark sent us a question about our last episode.

2:29.2

When we talked about Josh Luki and how I don't know what we thought about whether teams should

2:34.9

employ him or not employ him or whether there should be any and against him or anything like
