The program was originally broadcast in 1979, and the presenter was Roy Plumlee. This week I cast away as the actor, Edward Fox. I'm told Edward that music means a great deal to you.

Yes, I does, I think. Is the music and the family?

No, we're not a very musical family. You play the piano rather

well how did that come about? I learned when I was at prep school from from the sweet teacher, called Miss Ticehurst,

who is now retired.

She allowed my appreciation to develop.

It's a terribly important thing, course and at an early age I suppose I

got imbued and got to love

music. Do you play discs a lot? I suppose I don't really I find if I listen to music it's a

serious business I can't just turn the grammar phone or the tape recorder on and listen

because I find I stopped doing everything else.

Did you find it very hard to narrow your choice down to eight?

Quite hard, yes.

What's the first one there on the pile?

The first one is Fats Waller playing and singing my very good friend the Milton.

Why do you choose that?

Well, it's original talent and it's humorous and I suppose in a very sort of way it's exactly the sort of

of thing that's always been said about Joanna's and my relationship. We're always

being advised to marry, which is exactly the advice that Vatswallers be given in this song. My very good friend the milkman says and I've been losing too much sleep he doesn't like the hours I keep he suggests that you should

marry me. I tell it me, my very friend, the male man.
