Well, I'm recording this still in the heatwave here in the UK. It seems to have gone on for an awful long time, and if you don't have air conditioning and of course most of our homes don't hear, it makes everything that you do really difficult.

This edition we have a special guest, a man who's at the cutting edge of the world of robotics. His name is Dylan Glass.

And even if you're not aware of it or you don't remember, you might have read about him in a number of British newspapers over the last six months or so.

That's how I discovered him and his work. He is somebody who's worked not only in the US, but also in that crucible of development for robotic technology, Japan.

At the moment, he's a senior robotics software architect at future Y industries, a research division of Huawei, big of course, international technology company in Silicon Valley.

He was previously a senior researcher in social robotics at Hiroshi Ishiguro laboratories at ATR and a guest associate professor at the intellectual rather the intelligent probably intellectual to robotics laboratory at Osaka University.

He's got a much longer curriculum VTi resume than that, but I think that probably gives you a picture of the man we're about to speak with.

He was best known this year for his work in the development and execution of a robot called Erica. That's all I'm going to say about Erica for now and all I'm going to say about him.
