the English language. Today I have a special treat, a conversation with author and editor

Seresia Finnell about her new book, Wild Tongues Can't Be Tamed. It's an anthology and we

talk about the book itself at the beginning, which is great, but I think you'll especially

like the part on the particular challenges of editing an anthology.

Seresia, welcome to the Grandma Girl podcast. Thank you so much for having me. Yeah, I am

excited to talk to you. My partners at Mcmillan were just singing your praises about all these

amazing things you're doing. So first, you have a book coming out soon called Wild Tongues

Can't Be Tamed. Just tell me about your book.

Yeah, absolutely. So it's a collection of 15 essays. I also have an essay in this wonderful

anthology as well, representing 15 Latinx voices from the diaspora. So I tried to make

sure that we had a wide range of diverse voices. So we have some Central American voices,

which I'm really excited about because we tend to be not equally published as the rest

of the Latinos that are currently writing right now. But the essays in this book tackles

so many different things in response to the Latinx community. We're talking about mental

health, immigration, anti-blackness, colorism, you know, being a trans-racial adoptee, foster

care, just a little bit of everything. So I'm really excited for readers to read and connect

with this. I'm hoping that some people will see their stories finally reflected and know

that they aren't alone and, you know, not feeling Latinx enough. There are a few writers

in this collection who don't speak Spanish as their native language. So that's, I know

that's a big, big thing for a lot of us in the community. If we don't speak Spanish,
