Summary

This week, we're revisiting our conversation with Emmy-award winning actress Edie Falco. She's best known for her roles in The Sopranos, Oz and Nurse Jackie. When she spoke to us in 2018, she had just starred in the movie Outside In. Edie talks to Jesse about landing her first acting gig — which she started the day after she graduated from acting school at SUNY Purchase. Plus, Edie tells us why she thinks comedy isn't for her, and what it was like to work with James Gandolfini for nearly a decade on The Sopranos.

0:33.4	but slow. She had bit parts and movies here and there, recurring roles on Oz, homicide,
0:39.4	Law and Order. It was over a decade into her acting career before she got her breakout
0:44.6	role. The sopranos, HBO's classic mob drama, Edie played Carmella, Tony soprano's wife.
0:51.6	She was brilliant on the show, loving fierce, independent, tragic. She subverted the mob

1:02.7	kids to go to a good school. She wanted her husband to show up for dinner. Less Hell's
1:07.0	Kitchen, more Essex County, New Jersey. When we chatted back in 2018, we talked about
1:12.5	Edie's film outside in. Edie plays Carol, a high school English teacher. She's married
1:17.4	and she has a daughter. In the film, Carol becomes pen pals with a former student named
1:21.9	Chris, who's in jail on a 20-year sentence. Chris is played by J.Du Plus. The two become
1:27.3	close and they start confiding in each other. After he gets out, things get complicated.
1:32.5	Chris finds her outside a restaurant, they hug, and he gives her a portrait he made of
1:36.5	her while he was in prison. In this scene, Carol goes over the encounter with a colleague
