Summary

Everyone knows that tech has upended the business rulebook. But for all the exhortations to go digital, there’s been scant practical advice on how to do it. Until now.

In our latest episode, regular host Mike Mason is joined by ThoughtWorkers Jim Highsmith, Linda Luu and David Robinson to hear about their new book EDGE — value driven digital transformation. The book outlines an operating model that helps companies become holistically agile so that every part of the business — from culture to leadership to tech to product — can adapt and evolve at the speed of change.

Hello, everyone. My name is Mike Mason, and I'm here today with three authors of a forthcoming book. So I'm here with Jim Highsmith. Hi, Jim. Hey. I'm here with David Robinson. Hello. And I'm here with Linda Lou. Hi, Mike. Can you give me the elevator pitch for the book?

0:21.6

Well, the elevator pitch is that, first of all, is an agile operating model.

value-driven portfolio management.

0:33.6

1:07.8

So there's a big gap there, and that's the gap that EdgeTry is going to

1:10.8

try to feel. So there's a desire to be more digital? Right. Okay. So it's a technology book,

1:18.0

but it's an operating model. Is it a technology book or a management book? It is a management book,

1:25.1

but it concentrates on the technology part of it and that you've got to have

1:29.3

really technology at what we say at the core of your organization in order to be a real

1:34.4

digital company.

1:35.7

Okay, so technology at the cool, what do we mean when we say that?

1:38.9

So that's about eliminating the separation of the silos between the technology organization

1:43.9

and the rest of the business or the technology organization and the rest of the

1:44.9

business or the value stream that actually delivers whatever product or services to your customer.

1:50.1

And the recognition that in order to compete in this digital economy, you're going to have to
