A sore one, in every way possible. Eddie is back in the UK after the final day withdrawal while holding the lead in the Challenge Tour event in France. He explains why playing well might be the cause of his ailment and how he can fix it all going forward. | 0:00.0 | It's time now for the chipping forecast, in association with Peter Millar, brought to you by Andrew Cotter, Eddie Pepperel, and special guest Ian Carter. And... |
| 0:29.6 | Sad and exasperated noises. |
| 0:34.2 | Here we are then. |
| 0:34.9 | Welcome to the chipping forecast. |
| 0:36.3 | What we like about this podcast is that we feel |
| 0:38.4 | that you can all come along with us on the journey of golf and life and experience the highs and the lows |
| 0:43.7 | that both can bring. Well, if this weekend, gosh darn it, didn't bring both of those things, I don't know. |
| 0:49.1 | I'm Andrew Carter. Ian Carter, a regular special guest is also here. You're at home, Ian. Yes? Yes, I am, yes, gearing up for a week at Wimbledon. Wimburs. And I shall see you there, look forward to you. Yes. But far more important than neither of us being here. Eddie Pepperel is here, back from France, back from leading the challenge tour an event, hotel planner to an event, going |
| 1:11.2 | into the final round only to have to withdraw with a bad back. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. |
| 1:17.2 | Go shoot, big man. What's, how are you? |
| 1:20.4 | I'm all right. Yeah, we were very gutted to me and Jen yesterday, to be quite honest with you. |
| 1:26.6 | Yeah, it's an unusual situation. I will say that |
| 1:29.8 | my back wasn't very good all week and I nearly withdrew on the Friday morning before teeing up |
| 1:34.2 | because I was in a lot of pain then, but I at least had some movement Friday morning, whereas |
| 1:38.5 | yesterday morning Sunday, it was, I had nothing, frankly, and I couldn't swing a club, so it just wasn't doable. And I was more than happy to play through the pain as I did on Friday, but it just wasn't doable yesterday. So, yeah, a real shame, obviously, because I was playing well. And I think that that's, that was probably linked to the back injury because I had made some changes from the week before and was doing something slightly different. So it led to better golf, but unfortunately my body |
| 2:04.4 | just couldn't handle it. And that was that. So me and Jen were, well, we were pretty distraught |
| 2:11.6 | to have to come home, really. Yeah, well, I mean, well, we can only imagine because we, Ian and I, |
| 2:19.9 | obviously, we were following closely. |
| 2:22.6 | But so many other people got in touch as well. |
| 2:30.2 | They were following and sent their messages of support now, which ends up like grand as if somebody's left this mortal call. |
| 2:30.9 | But it is. |
| 2:35.6 | We can only imagine what you're feeling like because of the way you're playing but it's interesting that you say so was your back had your back altered the way |
