I'm Elvis Mitchell.

I have been a fan of my guest today for a very long time because I think his particular

affinity in writing screenplays and even directing, I think, is writing at least one character

who has an undeniable, unshakable confidence in everything, no matter what goes on around them,

and the kind of chaos that can stir. His newest screenplay, no sudden move, the entire screenplay

is full of people like that.

My kiss is Solomon. Thank you so much for being here. Elvis, it is such a pleasure. Thank you for

having me. My pleasure, but let's talk about that. I mean, this so often met what you've done. I think

back to leaving normal and just Christine Lottie, but that character was so often you written somebody or

Tommy Lee Jones and you're really smart adaptation of Ben in Black. And as somebody who read

the original Malibal comic, I can tell you what you wrote wasn't there. Well, first of all,

you're already the only person who's ever referenced leaving normal and the only person who's ever read the original comic.

So you're already within 30 seconds ahead of everyone I've ever spoken to.

I want to ask you about that.

These characters, at least one of them, always feels like their compasses pointed towards magnetic north and the kind of chaos they can cause because of their certitude.

If you can talk about that a little bit, because I think it's really fascinating.

What an amazing question.

I think it has to do, and I've never thought about this before, but with a kind of aspirational

element that I think a lot of writers feel, which is if I could just write a character

that does things that I can't do, what would that be like?
