Not only trees, a variety of vegetation is needed to make rivers flow before we fall

dead.

We must make this happen.

Well, we are attempting this in Kaviri, Basin, because the nature of a tropical river

is, we must understand that their rain fed and rain happens approximately 80 to 100 days

in southern India.

This 100 days of rain must flow for 365 days.

If this has to happen, there has to be substantial vegetation in the Basin.

The catchment is not only in the mountains, the entire Kaviri Basin, every inch of this

land is catchment.

And it is largely under agriculture, which is very important that we learn to form with

trees on our farm.

Well, we have evolved a method with which farmers are earning much better than before.

In five to seven years, their incomes have gone up over 300 to 800 percent.

And the yield has gone up.

The soil quality has improved, and above all, the water tables have come up.

So this needs to happen to every river, right now, government of India, has made detailed

project reports for 13 rivers, but we need to make it happen.

For this, the soil quality has to improve, there must be substantial vegetation, and we

have to make vegetation in such a way that it's beneficial to the farmer.

That is, the ecological concerns must find expression in economic well-being.
